This is a personal project based on a made-up craft fair.

I designed an 8.5" x 11" poster to advertise the event Crafternoon, a craft market.

Project Break Down

My goal was to design an approachable and trendy poster (8.5" x 11") that celebrates artisan products and their makers. The target audience is adults 18 - 30 with expendable income.
I started by exploring bold fonts and colour palettes.
For the font, I played with kerning and size in order to come up with something that looked unique and fit with the market's playful ambiance. I also wanted to make sure that it was clear the event was a market, so I made sure to include that in the text.

When it came to settling on a colour palette, I knew I didn't want to use white or black. I was inclined to use the three primary colours (red, blue, and yellow) since they are the foundations to creating other colours. I liked this concept, but primary colours are often used together to market to children and I wanted to make sure the poster attracted the Crafternoon's main audience. In the end, I settled on six colours that compliment and contrast each other in a modern and exciting way.

I sketched out nine different designs, then narrowed it down to three to test my colour palette with. Once I added colour, it was obvious which one I would move forward with...
